2nd Annual Elks Car Show Was a Great Success

The Elks Lodge recently hosted its 2nd Annual Car Show, welcoming nearly 50 vehicles and presenting 10 plaques for Best in Show. The event drew an excellent turnout from both the community and Lodge members — even the Phoenix Police Department stopped by after noticing the activity and came to see the event.

Guests enjoyed hot dogs and bratwurst, a coffee truck, music, and a bouncy house for families. The show featured an impressive range of vehicles, including cars dating back to the 1920s and rare models such as Cobras. The event also provided a great opportunity to showcase the Lodge to potential new members.

Thanks to the support of participants and attendees, the event raised money that will be donated to Arizona Elks Major Projects, the primary statewide charitable program of the Arizona Elks Association. The program supports two major initiatives benefiting children across the state: the Steele Children’s Research Center at the University of Arizona, which conducts pediatric medical research and provides care for thousands of children each year, and the Jack C. Warter, Jr. Elks Youth Camp, a wilderness camp in the Sierra Ancha Mountains available free of charge to youth groups throughout Arizona.

While the event was coordinated by Heather Leal, it was truly a team effort made possible by the many volunteers who contributed their time and support. Special thanks go to the four teenage volunteers, as well as Karen Seaman (Exalted Ruler), Larry and Diane Bodwell, Linda Thompson, Jeff and Stephanie Beasley, Kathy Allasia, Tom Schiavone, Hope Bennett, Eileen Austin, Sean and Heather Leal, and Sylvia Carruthers.

With perfect weather, great music, and strong community participation, the event was enjoyed by all. Based on this year’s interest and attendance, next year’s car show may need to move to the larger parking lot to accommodate continued growth.
