The Kids Dictionary Project

Submitted by Jeff Beasley, Esteemed Lecturing Knight

This year, Phoenix Elks Lodge #335 is working harder than ever to expand our Elks Dictionary Project. Already, we have handed out nearly 250 dictionaries to two local schools, and we have many more students to serve as the school year continues. Our goal is to place a dictionary in the hands of as many 3rd graders as possible.

For many students, a dictionary is more than just a book — it's often the first book they can truly call their own. It becomes a valuable learning tool that supports literacy, sparks curiosity, and shows students that their community cares about their success.

We have identified a need for at least 1,500 dictionaries this year. With the help of our members, volunteers, and generous donors, we are committed to meeting this challenge and expanding our reach year after year.

Here's how you can help: by sponsoring a box of 20 dictionaries for just $90, you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of local students. Each sponsorship directly impacts classrooms and helps strengthen the bond between our Lodge and our community schools.

To make a donation, you can give directly at the Lodge, or contact Jeff Beasley or the Lodge office. You can also learn more at phx.elks.news/youth/dictionary-project.
