The Phoenix Elks Lodge held its Hoop Shoot on January 10, 2026, bringing together youth, families, and volunteers for a successful community event.
Approximately 15 children competed at the Lodge competition. A preliminary competition, which included several hundred boys and girls, was held in October at Desert Shadows Elementary. The Navy Sea Cadets opened the event with a flag ceremony, and the Elks Drug Awareness Committee provided all competitors with paper bags containing treats and age-appropriate drug awareness information.
Congratulations to the winners in each division:
- 8–9-year-old boys: 1st place, Cody Frohlich; 2nd place, Brody Brittain; 3rd place, Angel Rodriguez
- 10–11-year-old boys: 1st place, Collier Schmitz; 2nd place, Lakai Torres; 3rd place, Amari Brittain
- 10–11-year-old girls: 1st place, Haley Frohlich
- 12–13-year-old boys: 1st place, Colton VanEynde; 2nd place, Waylon Jones; 3rd place, Demetri Garnes
The event was supported by about 20 volunteers, including Elks members and parents. The Phoenix Elks Lodge is grateful to Great Hearts for opening their gym and helping make the event a success.
