Labor Day Picnic Draws About 100 and Raises $684 for Thanksgiving Baskets

Approximately 100 members and guests came together to enjoy this year’s Labor Day Picnic, making it a wonderful day of fellowship, generosity and Elk spirit.
Several special items were contributed during the event. The Veterans Committee donated a challenge coin, while the Picnic Committee contributed a commemorative pen celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. Linda Thompson and Smurf donated a train ornament from the Children’s Shopping Spree Committee, and Bob contributed an antique pocket change holder complete with change. Many of our officers also contributed their pins, along with California State pins, creating a meaningful collection of Elk memorabilia.
A special thank-you goes to committee members Sandy Bailey, Cookie Nanni, Cindy Pendergrass, Judy Peters, Carol Cauble-Rondeau, Valerie Hardy and Jan Mitchell for all of their hard work in making the picnic possible.
We are also incredibly grateful to the volunteers who stepped in to serve food and help wherever they were needed. Several committee members were dealing with illness or injuries, and without hesitation, others simply pitched in. That willingness to help one another is a true example of what it means to be an Elk.
A special thank-you also goes to Anton Jones for providing the music and helping with the 50/50 drawing. His help added to the fun of the day and helped make the event even more successful.
And we certainly don’t want to forget to thank everyone who generously donated items to the silent auction. The Anything Auction was a great success, raising $540 for our Thanksgiving Baskets program. The 50/50 drawing brought in an additional $144, bringing the total raised for Thanksgiving Baskets to $684.
Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered and helped make the Labor Day Picnic such a memorable and successful event. It was truly a great example of Elks Care — Elks Share!
