Submitted by Albert Kayal, HLM, PDDGER, PSP, Phoenix Elks Lodge Scholarship Chair
Four Elks scholarship and grant programs are open for the 2026–2027 year. Deadlines begin in November, so students and families are encouraged to start early.
Emergency Educational Grants provide undergraduate college financial assistance to children of deceased or totally disabled Elks in the form of renewable, one-year grants of up to $5,000. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, attend an accredited U.S. college or university as a full-time (12 semester hours) undergraduate student, and be unmarried and under the age of 24 during the academic year in which they are applying. Contact the Elks National Foundation Scholarship Office at (773) 755-4732 or scholarship@elks.org. Applications are available on request and must be submitted by Thursday, December 31, 2026.
Legacy Awards offer 251 college scholarships of $4,000 each to children or grandchildren of Elks members. Eligible applicants are college-bound high school seniors who are the children or grandchildren of dues-paying Elks members, and are judged on knowledge, charity, community service and integrity. Applications are available online, and the submission deadline is Monday, February 1, 2027 at 11:59 a.m. Pacific Standard Time.
Most Valuable Student Scholarships are open to any high school senior who is a U.S. citizen; the applicant does not have to be related to an Elk. Applicants are judged on academics, leadership, financial need and service. Applications are available online, and the submission deadline is Thursday, November 12, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
Special Needs and Vocational Grants are one-time grants sponsored by the Arizona Elks Association for high school seniors who are U.S. citizens. Applications are available at the Phoenix Elks Lodge Secretary’s Office and at azelks.org (click on Committees, then Elks National Foundation). The due date is Thursday, November 12, 2026.
