Patriotism Week Proclamation — Governor Katie Hobbs Names Lodge #335
State of Arizona — September 7–13, 2026
Governor Katie Hobbs has proclaimed September 7–13, 2026 as Patriotism Week in Arizona — and the proclamation names Phoenix Elks Lodge #335 by name, twice.
The proclamation opens by noting that the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has, since its founding in 1868, been dedicated to promoting patriotism, American citizenship, community service, and love of country, and that Phoenix Elks Lodge #335 has faithfully served the citizens of Arizona since 1896.
It goes on to recognize that the freedoms enjoyed by the people of the United States were secured through the courage, sacrifice, and devotion of countless service members who defended our nation and its Constitution; and that preserving liberty requires every generation to understand our nation’s history, honor our veterans and first responders, respect the American flag, and participate in civic life with integrity, responsibility, and unity.
Patriotism Week, the Governor wrote, gives all Arizonans an opportunity to reflect upon the principles of freedom, democracy, and citizenship while recognizing those who continue to strengthen our communities through volunteerism and public service. The final “whereas” credits Phoenix Elks Lodge #335 and Elks Lodges throughout Arizona with demonstrating those values year-round through programs supporting veterans, youth, first responders, education, scholarships, charitable giving, and community service.
The proclamation was done at the Capitol in Phoenix on the thirty-first day of August, 2026, and attested by the Secretary of State.
Lodge #335 lived up to the recognition during the week itself. As Exalted Ruler Clint Tompkins reported, Patriotism Week “was filled with events that showcased what the Elks are all about—supporting our community, honoring those who serve, and bringing people together.” Law and Order Night was especially meaningful, recognizing outstanding individuals who serve and protect our communities, with Vice President South Jack Ponzo and his wife, Cheryl, joining the Lodge for the evening. The week wrapped up with the Clampett Olympics — a chance to relax, laugh, and enjoy some good old-fashioned Elks fellowship after a very meaningful week.
