All Hands on Deck for Thanksgiving Baskets
The Thanksgiving Day Basket program is one of the most important things Phoenix Elks Lodge #335 does all year, and this month it needs every pair of hands the Lodge can find.
Packing takes place on Friday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m., after dinner. Drivers are needed the following morning, Saturday, November 21, beginning at 9:00 a.m., to deliver the finished baskets to families in our neighborhood.
“These baskets are about more than food,” said Exalted Ruler Clint Tompkins. “They represent kindness, compassion, and the reassurance that someone cares. Whether you can help collect donations, organize supplies, assemble baskets, or assist with distribution, every helping hand makes a difference.”
Esteemed Leading Knight Tyler Vanwey put it another way: there is no better way to celebrate Thanksgiving than helping put food on someone else’s table. Donations from members, along with the proceeds of fundraisers held throughout the fall, keep the program running year after year.
