Thanksgiving Baskets — Help Needed
Submitted by Becky Simons, Chaplain and Thanksgiving Baskets Chair
The Elks Lodge is once again carrying on its tradition of preparing and distributing Thanksgiving baskets for families in need throughout the 85032 community. Each year, this program reflects the values of community; thanks to the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of donors, many families are able to gather around the table and share in the warmth of the holiday season.
Day One: Thursday, November 20
Volunteers will set up the packing room and organize outgoing boxes. Food donations will be delivered to the lodge, unloaded, and arranged on tables in preparation for packing. Extra hands are especially needed for setup and heavy lifting.
Day Two: Friday, November 21 (7 p.m.)
Lodge members, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Sea Cadets, local students and their families, Antlers, and community volunteers will form an assembly line to pack food items into boxes, which are then moved to the distribution room.
Day Three: Saturday, November 22 (9 a.m.–1 p.m.)
Volunteers will finalize and number boxes to correspond with designated families and pickup groups. Drivers are also needed to deliver baskets to households without transportation.
Organizers note that help is especially needed on Day One and Day Three.
