Homeless Youth Empowerment Committee Kicks Off with Ambitious Goals

Submitted by Jeff Beasley, Esteemed Loyal Knight

The Phoenix Elks Lodge #335 Homeless Youth Empowerment Committee recently held its organizational kickoff meeting, bringing together dedicated volunteers who share a common goal: helping homeless and at-risk youth throughout our community.

Funded through an Impact Grant providing $10,000 annually for the next three years, the committee is developing programs and resources designed to provide meaningful support to youth facing housing instability, financial hardship, and other life challenges.

The committee established an ambitious goal of supporting at least 300 homeless and at-risk youth during the coming year through direct assistance, educational resources, transportation support, and community outreach.

A cornerstone of the program will be the distribution of monthly supplies to homeless and at-risk youth — backpacks, hygiene kits, socks, underwear, school supplies, snacks, resource guides, scholarship information, and other necessities. Three major event initiatives were identified:

Monthly volunteer meetings are held on the last Sunday of each month, and committee meetings take place on the first Tuesday of each month at 1:00 PM at the Lodge. The committee welcomes volunteers, community partners, and supporters who wish to help make a difference.
